Moonfleet (1955)

Read this book to my children and they loved it, so much we named our English setter MOONFLEET, alias Moonie. Was disappointed that it did not follow the book per se, and the type of movie that would be better in B&W. Good job on the secenery and cast, lacked some of the book`s intrigue.

Would have been better in B&W

I think the somberness of this story would have been better in B&W, or at least not Cinemascope. The first time I watched it I was disappointed, and I am a huge fan of both Lang and Granger. The next time I turned off the color on my screen to make it BW and actually liked it more.

I saw this for the first time last night. I thought the story that develops between John and Fox very touching especially in the end to see how he softened the cold heart of the man. Stewart Granger is a great actor and the little boy was tremendous. I would like to see this come out on DVD. The cinematography was beautiful.George Sanders of course is always a wonderful scoundrel.
