teaser Always a Bride (1940)

The Welsh-born, Irish-bred actress Peggy Cummings gouged an unforgettable mark on American movies with her unforgettable performance as the seductive pistol-packing stunt shooter who gets her hooks into a masochistic gun fetishist and turns him into a hold up artist in Gun Crazy (1950). Three years later on home soil in the British romantic comedy Always A Bride, the icy, Veronica Lake-lookalike actress is less deadly but just as devious, as one half of a father-daughter con artist team who pose as a married couple (!) to milk wealthy people on Riviera vacations for all they're worth. This time, though, she's growing tired of her dishonest life -- will a romance with British Treasury official Terence Winch (Terence Morgan) provide her the stability she craves? And can she settle down without having to do one last, big con with her father? Look for portly character actor Sebastian Cabot in a small role as a taxi driver - his voice will be instantly recognizable by animation fans as the voice of Bagheera the panther in The Jungle Book (1967), as well as the narrator from many of Disney's Winnie The Pooh movies.
