Source: I lived in Port Huron, studied Edison's life and inventions (I am an electrical engineer).
Edison rode the train between Port Huron and Detroit Mi. selling newspapers and candy. The railroad station in In Edison's hometown of Port Huron still exists, but the Edison home had been torn down. A large rock and plaque serves as a monument where the Edison house stood, not far away from the railroad station. One of the railroad stations (Smith's Creek) was purchased and moved to the Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum. Edison and Henry Ford became friends as adults.
