torpedo run addendum

Remind me when I'm born again not to have a dad who would deliberately sink my ass in pursuit of some freakin destroyer!

Glenn Ford as Ahab? A Japanese destroyer as Moby Dick? Only in Hollywood, baby!
Another Fictionalized WW2 Sub Movie..
- Russ G
I probably loved this as a kid, within a decade of its initial release. Pretty much like the propaganda-style sub pictures made during the war; bears similarity to Destination Tokyo with the fictional entry into Tokyo Bay. Only one US sub ever sank a Japanese carrier and it was a converted battleship hull late in the war that hadn't been commissioned yet. She would have been a sister ship to Yamato.
Tense, gutty, true to life throughout. Glenn Ford, sublime as usual, teamed with Ernest Borgnine to captured my attention to experience a cathartic journey.
Good submarine wartime adventure...
- Michael Semer
I'm a sucker for a good sub flick, for whatever reason, and this one holds up thanks to Glenn Ford and Ernest Borgnine's performances and some impressive model work. The storyline is a bit wrought, but execution is professional as hell, tightly directed and edited, and there's a lot to be said for that.
Torpedo Run a Great Pic
This is a great movie for the era. Rather predictable plot but exceptionally well played by Glenn Ford and Ernest Borgnine. Great supporting cast. Don't miss this one.
Let's have it!
- SUB FAN
A lot of movie fans enjoy this flick. I only know of it being available on VHS. High time the movie industry makes it available to the public on DVD. Let's have it!

One of the top Submarine movies that Hollywood produced.Only downer was Ford losing his wife!
I loved this movie
I don't understand why L. Maltin gave this such a low rating. Glenn Ford and Ernest did a super job and I am sure filiming in tight quarters isn't easy.
This is a Great War Movie
Best Borgnine-Ford movie ever
I love E.Borgnine & G.Ford movies. So I get a double pleasure seeing this one, especially since I also love, W.W.2 movies. They are both terrific in this film. I watch it every chance I see it's coming on tv.
Torpedo Run one of the best WW II Sub Movies
- Mac Wicht
Run Silent Run Deep, Destination Tokyo, Up Periscope...they are all good movies, but this is the best one of them all. Tense, realistic, oscar caliber special effects. One of Glenn Ford's best.
