Previous reviewer Don Letta, as he often does, nailed it about this eminently ordinary film. I would only add that in addition to the three plaisirs listed by him there is the additional one of watching Ann Sothern, a most under-rated actress/comedienne, easily the equal if not the superior of the abrasive Ms. Ball. And along with sharing Mr. Letta's puzzlement over the popularity of Red Skelton I would also question the value of the comedic ore to be mined in the deadpan gluttony of Virginia O'Brien.

And they are: Sothern singing The Last Time I Saw Paris, Powell dancing with the talented pup, and Connie Russell singing Fascinating Rhythm (what a voice she had!). The rest of the pic is standard MGM fluff. And , would someone explain to me how falling on your face can remotely be considered funny? Skelton made a career out of it, but we're mercifully spared an overload of it in this film.
I forgot to mention in my review how much I enjoyed the little Fox Terrier in the film. These are such wonderful and intelligent little dogs. He was quite good, even dancing with Eleanor Powell, who I also failed to give much deserved credit. What a wonderful gem of talent we have in her to enjoy as long as we have the technology to use. Thank you, TCM.
Wonderful film. I have really grown to love and appreciate Ann Southern and her talent in so many different types of acting. She was really quite good. I grew up with her on tv in comedy. I am glad we have her body of work available to us to enjoy. Who were the 3 black male dancers who were so wonderful in this film? Were they, James, Warren, and Nyas Berry? If so, why were they not given the credit for the fantastic dancers that they were? I loved the film. I enjoyed Robert Young too, as well as Red Skelton. Back then, the actors were required to be so multitalented. Wow! Love, love, love these old classics. Thank you. Keep on showing them.
This is not one of the "big name" famous MGM musicals. But it ought to be! Every minute of this movie is a complete delight. Script, music, performances -- any way you look at it, this is outstanding entertainment.
Uns dos melhores musicais
Este filme com Eleanor Powell um dos melhores que ela fez. Um filme de alta qualidade com a melhor danarina de todos os tempos.
