We rented this through the library, not knowing what to expect. It's a thoroughly enjoyable whodunit! Greenstreet and Lorre are great co-stars - because of this film we're trying to track down all the other films they've made together. It's extremely atmospheric; dark humor, good action and a totally surprising ending. It's Don Seigel's directorial debut - everything else he'd done after this (yes, even Dirty Harry) is amateurish compared to this film. We love noir, we love B&W, we love Sydney & Peter, we love TCM. To everybody reading this: Give this gem a try. You won't regret it!!
