Highly Entertaining Adventure Film
Colorful, exciting, satisfying and well acted. Take an exciting trip to Africa on 'Safari' and be swept away by this story of an American Safari hunter (Mature) in British East Africa looking to hunt down the Mau Mau killers of his son . Along the way he has to deal with some pompous British colonials, including a client who wants to track a particular lion. There's also romance between Mature and Janet Leigh. You won't be bored.
Please Show it some more

This is definitely a lost gem. in addition to being Victor Mature's best role it boasts quite a "pedigree". What with Janet Leigh and directed by a pre-Bond Terrence Young? The story moves swiftly and provides a glimpse into the issues of Africa going on during this period. Never heavy handed or Preachy it has many elements to reccomend on different viewing levels. TCM recently ran it at a time was unable to view it. I am hoping they will re-present it. It had been quite a long while since it was aired.
great safari film
Shot on location in Kenya during the real Mau Mau tribal war of the 1950's, In the theme song one can hear references to the problems of 1950's east africa, such as the line in the song on safari "keep it coolie free", african laborers resented the use of asians as labor in Kenya. The film also shows that whites living in rual areas many times became the focus of the attacks of the Mau Mau, along with east africans that did not agree with the Mau Mau, the film gives a interesting look at this forgotten part of history. When the Mau Mau war ended Kenya was freed from England, and moved on to become a free country.

I am looking for the movie which I feel is Mature's best acting role, Safari with Janet Leigh. Is this out on DVD or VHS?
One of Mature's beter characterizations.
