VICTOR BUONO IS OUTSTANDING IN THIS OTHER WISE, WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DULL DRAGGY BORE. THE ACTOR WHO PLAYS THE POLICE DETECTIVE ACTUALLY LOOKS VERY SICK. DONT KNOW IF THIS WAS ON PURPOSE OR HE WAS FED UP WITH THE WHOLE THING. HELEN KORBY IS AS USUAL, GREAT BUT TO LITTLE OF HER.
Life Without Father
V.B. deftly yet subtly expressed the confusion of the love/hate outlook his character had for the mother that bore him- a son that 'only a mother could love'. Kroll's aloof interaction with his lab partner displayed the most nonthreatening relationship he had with anybody. How he found out where his victims lived was not clear & the action/dialogue pace seldom wavered from being even. Yet the pathos of rejection surged like a drag racer.
do not watch before bed.
if you want a real horror story..remember green lantern with ryan Reynolds.

The film also has a clever catch with "The Strangler" leaving "Mama Dolls" at the scene of the crime. To accentuate the Psychological murder ofthis mother "again and again". He also chooses beautiful women, which is covered in the script by his mother stating ..........".......as a child Leo thought I was beautiful.". The mother's clinging and belittling nature is covered by his mother stating ........"..........Leo your father died of alcohol."
Deserves More Credit.

Victor Buono makes a very fine psychopath. This movie is actually well constructed with much "food for thought". A highly intelligent killer with the habits of a child. His dexterity which he uses well in his crimes is also enhanced by his eye hand coordination with a Carnival game. This is much better than it gets credit for. Constructed like a B Movie but it has some real "meat and Potatoes" in the way of finer film. Buono who really never got enough excellent parts is a highly interesting actor. I've watched this film a number of times.
Leo and his dolls
Oh what a delightful little film about an overweight mamas boy who gets his thrills by strangling the very nurses who care for the mother he oh so loves. Like any role Victor Buono had he plays it perfectly and way over the top. He was such a fine actor it's a shame he isn't given more recognition for his talent. I have this film on DVD in a double feature from AMC called monsterfest. Sadly the transfer on that disc is terrible and as much as I enjoy the film it's tough to watch in such bad quality. Hopefully one day The Strangler will get the proper release it deserves.

Good thriller. Victor Buono is always great. They should release a pristine, remastered version to DVD very soon.
