  • Well Worth a Watch

I would classify this as a drama with a bit of comic relief. For different reasons---including selfish ones---Lana, Laraine, and Susan all join the WACs. With Susan as the buffer between them, Lana and Laraine are continually at each other's throats and must learn how how to get along. All 3 gals are lovely and quite good in their roles. The film has some touching moments...I got teary-eyed on 3 different occasions, even cried heartily 1 of those times. Maybe not up there with some of the other female WWII movies (like "So Proudly We Hail"), but definitely enjoyable, interesting, and worth watching.

  • LANA TURNER JOINS THE SERVICE!

"KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY" IS AN ENJOYABLE WW11 FILM STARRING LANA TURNER AS A RICH GIRL WHO ENDS UP IN THE SERVICE. ALTHOUGH SPOILED WHEN SHE ARRIVES, AS TIME GOES ON, LANA LEARNS A VALUABLE LESSON BY THE TIME THE MOVIE IS UP. AS ALWAYS, LANA TURNER IS FUN TO SEE IN THIS SOMEWHAT LIGHT WAR MOVIE. THE REST OF THE CAST, INCLUDING SUSAN PETERS AND LARAINE DAY, ALSO DO WELL. THIS MOVIE DOESN'T HAVE QUITE AS MUCH OF THE GLAMOUR THAT MANY OF LANA'S MOVIES HAD AROUND THAT TIME, SO THIS COMEDY/DRAMA WAS SOMEWHAT OF A CHANGE FOR HER. LANA AND THE CAST MAKE THIS A PRETTY GOOD MOVIE.
