THE DEEP SIX not a classic by any means, but it IS well worth a viewing and does take a couple of very interesting tacks in it's look at WWII. First., the "latent pacificsm" that Alan Ladd's non-practicing Quaker character is forced to confront and second, a look at seldom seen front, the Northeast Pacific. The Aleutians were the scene of some hard fighting in brutal weather conditions. Alan Ladd, whose career was on the wane by this time, is surrounded by an absolutely outstanding supporting cast including, Keenan Wynn, Efram Zimbalist, Jr., William Bendix and Joey Bishop and James Whitmore, who seemed to alternate between roles with officer's bars (Above and Beyond, The McConnell Story) and Sgt. stripes (Battleground, Men in War, The Command). FYI: Ross Bagdasarian (Aaron) would later become better known in the music business as David Seville, who gave us THE WITCH DOCTOR song as well as singing Chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore.

My dad was in the navy at this time and this movie actually hopped aboard his ship. I would like more than anything to buy or download this movie for his enjoyment to bring back the memories he had once had. He also said that he was actually in a scene, I myselff would love to see that scene. If it is an important part of his life that it is an important part of mine.
