  What an inspiration Annette Kellerman was in real life. She overcame polio by swimming. She championed women's rights by fighting in the Boston courts to wear a one piece bathing suit similar to a man's swimsuit. She used her talents in music, ballet, and swimming to star at the New York Hippodrome with the likes of Pavlova. Bravo. Esther Williams does a fine portrayal of this fascinating woman.

  I remember when Turner Broadcasting used to do the celebrity birthdays and show the best movies of that celebrity. That was when I was first exposed to Esther Williams and Million Dollar Mermaid was one of the movies that was shown that left a major impression on me. Even as young as I was at that time I knew I was watching something completely magical and wonderful. Though this movie was made almost 30 years before I was even born it still has that "wow" factor that still stays with me.
