In my previous review I did not include my ratings, which are 5 stars for this movie. The only 3 star rating is for the title which does not give the main character of this film justice. She is far from wicked. This is an excellent movie with an excellent cast.

Excellent film

I think this is one of those "essentials" that host Robert Osborne talks about. This is a fast pace film with a great story. I love Charles Bickford films and William Henry is wonderful as Curtis. Henry went on to have a busy and long career. Austrian born Mady Christians sadly was blacklisted during the McCarthy period when so many wonderful careers were ruined. I really enjoy films from this period so this is a real treasure for me.

Glad I watched this!

This is a little gem of a movie. I almost didn't watch it due to the silly title and brief synopsis given here (sounded depressing). But from the very beginning to the very end, this was quite an enjoyable and heartwarming movie. Yes the woman kills her husband in the first few minutes of the show, but it then proceeds to tell the tale of how she runs away with her children, struggles to raise them properly, knowing she will someday go back and admit to her crime and be punished for it.
