Trivia

  • The members of the Crickets had already sold their portrayal rights to the producer of a different Buddy Holly movie, so fictitious names had to be used for the Crickets here. Also, for story simplifcation, the three Crickets were reduced to two.
  • The actors played their own instruments live during the filming of the production numbers.

Yellow centerlines on roads and highways are shown in several scenes. Yellow lines were not introduced until the mid sixties.

In a rehearsal scene for "Everyday", Buddy mentions he would like to add the glockenspiel to the song. What was actually played in the studio version was the piano-like celesta. The sound of the celesta is akin to that of the glockenspiel, but with a much softer and more subtle timbre.
