After reading Jeff's review I REALLY wanna see this movie!
MY favorite Sci-Fi
My favorite SCI-FI movie. I will say no more than that.
May be too intense for younger viewers
This film is certainly provocative enough to be given a G-rating (taken into account that some scenes, particularly the stills of all those dead people in one of the split-screen sequences, one of which includes a nude woman with her breasts exposed, may be disturbing to some viewers, especially children). This film should have rated PG (or R for that matter) at the very least.
Rated G (?!)
- Jeff Boston
Unreal and unwise that Wise's film was/is rated G, for it is gratuitous and grotesque. Even today, the film doesn't rate a G, showing a dead old woman hanging from a noose, a middle aged woman having a frothy epilectic seizure, and a dead young woman with her breasts fully exposed. There's even a shot of a naked man in which the director does not want you to miss his buttocks. There's also too many scenes of animals dying in agony, and way too many isolated shots of already dead Americans, most with eyes wide open after being shocked by the settling in of an infectious and insidious unknown quantity, like recently when millions of Americans had their eyes opened wide after being shocked by the further settling in of an infectious and insidious, previously unknown quantity.

Top ten sci-fi flick of all time! The extreme situation is the star of this film.Everyone else follows along perfectly to create one of the most tense experiences on film! Just the thought sends chills down ones spine!Very thought provoking subject that cries for screen time gets its due in 'The Andromeda Strain'.

Edge of your seat, heart throbbing action and suspense. One of the best Sci-Fi flicks ever.
The Andromeda Strain (1971)

Very tense and compelling and it always held my interest. The film holds up amazingly well after nearly 40 years. The plot is fascinating and it is thoroughly convincing. Well acted, great atmosphere.
