I have seen all the others and would be very anxious to see this one too. Why is it never shown?

I am a big Sayers fan and would love to see this movie again. It is a light, intelligent, fast moving love story with a great murder mystery. What a wonderful movie for a cold winter night or a rainy Sunday morning. Please, just for fun, show us some vintage English manner house mysteries from the 40's.

Pleasant classic, very light and entertaining, good cast and a brisk pace. Nicely written. Short and sweet.

  • Nearly saw it....

Years ago I recorded a movie and at the end was the start of another one. It was Haunted Honeymoon (1940). I saw the first 10 minutes before the recording finished. I was hooked, and have been looking for it ever since. As far as I know TCM has the only copy on earth. Please, please TCM, show it again.

Although I am a fan of the stage play and novel by Dorothy L. Sayers, despite years of searching I have never seen the 1940 MGM movie starring Robert Montgomery as Lord Peter Wimsey and Constance Cummings as Harriet Vane. People who did see the movie, including my mother, saw it was marvelous. This is the story in which after years of being in love, Lord Peter has actually convinced Harriet to marry him. Given he is an amateur detective and she writes detective novels, no sooner are they in their rented honeymoon country cottage than a murder happens. Peter's faithful valet Bunter is there. So is a collection of characters.
