India, Hollywood and Lone Pine, California serve as the locales for MGM's thrilling screen adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic story set in late 19th-century Colonial India. Errol Flynn stars as a British Intelligence agent masquerading as a horse trader, and 14-year-old Dean Stockwell stars in the title role of a young Anglo prince, of whom, the British spy is assigned to protect, while he uses his skills as a scavenger to spy on rebellious natives. Flynn has come a long way from his days as a swashbuckler in the '30s and '40s, but he still manages to give another fantastic performance as a British spy protecting a young would-be king. Stockwell, although he started out as a child actor, he would later achieve actual stardom as an adult. Co-starring Paul Lukas, Robert Douglas, Thomas Gomez, Cecil Kellaway, Arnold Moss, Reginald Owen, Laurette Luez, Hayden Rorke & Richard Hale.

75/100. A wonderful adventure film, based on the Rudyard Kipling classic story. Errol Flynn is ideally cast and Dean Stockwell does a fine job as well. Excellent color cinematography, impressive art direction. Overall, the production is great. The pacing is a little uneven, it should have been shorter. But it is a fine film, light, exciting and entertaining.
