Mountian Man'' staring Denver Pyle, Don Shanks.
I purchased this movie the other day! It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every cent! Love this movie, Denver Pyle ,and Don Shanks, was kinda like watching Grizzly Adams in some parts. Movies like this are hard to come by, it's sad too, because they don't make good family movies like this anymore, and to get the copyright owners to re-release these movies so everyone can enjoy these family generated movies is very unlikely! Just like the movie " The Adventures of Frontier Fremont" staring Dan Haggerty, Denver Pyle, Don Shanks! I Haven't seen it sense I was a kid. I've been looking for a vhs copy of this for a long time, but sadly no one want's to turn loose of the copys they own, so I guess I will never get to see it! If anyone ever has the chance to purchase the movies, Mountain Man, AKA_ The Guardian of The Wilderness, or the movie, The Adventures of Frontier Fremont, AKA_ Spirit of The Wild! but make sure that the movie Spirit of The Wild stars Dan Haggerty, because there is other movies with the same name, don't pass up the chance to own them, You won't be disappointed!

I've been looking for this movie for years; I don't know why Disney has not released it again. There are so many old movies being brought back, released in DVD; why not mountain man? It was a very good movie I think many people would enjoy.
My great great grandfather
Galen was my great great grandfather. They played a bit with the family history. Mary Ann's family did not go live in the woods, they went back to New England where her husband had his job. But I loved it anyway. I took the kids and we used to have it on tape. That has disappeared and I'd love to be able to find a copy again to keep with our genealogy.
Mountain Man--Galen Clark

I have been looking for a copy of this movie for many years--we had the origal copy in eta--my husband and I visited Sequeoa National Park in the early 80s and have been so impressed with those giant redwoods and the movie is so impressive -it really relates the importance of preserving those trees and actually makes one realize whwt a treasue we have --totally awesome--and I just love the movie
This is an excellent historically accurate family movie. It is shot on location. It is about mountain man Galen Clark, who along with naturalist John Muir, and President Lincoln, in the 1860's fought the lumber companies to save the majestic giant Sequoia trees. Thanks to him, you Americans can enjoy the beauty of Yosemite National Park today. It stars Denver Pyle(Uncle Jesse on "The Dukes of Hazard") I haven't seen it on TV since it was originally aired for it's release in 1977. I hope TCM will air it soon, for the enjoyment of all. I've waited 30 years to see it. It is not available to buy anywhere on DVD or video.
