One of the best ever - cavalry vs. Apache
- Richard Curtin
- 7/29/07
Well plotted and acted. A vivid portrayal of the hardships and peril involved in settling the west and the toughness of the men and women who were there. Strong characterizations by Burt Lancaster as the white scout; by Jorge Luke as his Apache associate; and by Bruce Davison as the inexperienced army officer struggling to understand his quarry. Perceptive insights regarding the mindset of the raiding Apache warriors and the soldiers pursuing them. Action in microcosm; a small detail of cavalry dealing with an even smaller group of Apache determined to preserve their way of life.
