  One of the most enjoyable silent movies I've ever seen. The music alone is worth seeking out. Cast is memorable. Story is touching; becomes a "Sophie's Choice" situation. Try showing it again, at a more accessible time, for those who don't have DVRs. Between this and the Buster Keatons I'm coming to understand why the silents were so compelling in the teens and 20's.

  I watched this movie for the first time on TCM--and I fell back in love with Lon Chaney, Sr. He was perhaps the best actor that ever lived! He brings this movie alive. Only Lon Chaney can immerse himself in his characterizations so well. He was the best! Imagine that--me, a black lady in love with the acting and life of such a great--Lon Chaney!
