Mediocre Film, Good Acting

The tales of John Gilbert's failure in talkies also leads one to believe he was a poor actor. This 1931 film is not very impressive but the ensemble is talented and Gilbert is excellent, even touching in some scenes. Not exactly recommended for the story but does show Gilbert's career decline was not lack of talent, looks or voice, but poor luck and drink.
