This rarely seen on T.V. movie was way ahead of it's time in capturing what oil has come to mean to us today. How can you go wrong with George C. Scott and Marlon Brando. The movie is a dark portrayal of the Oil industry and the power and long reach they have into our societies many different arenas. The political, and international conflicts of today were realized by the story tellers and writers. It came out when America was in the grips of oil embargoes and other political quagmires all realized because of the crucial need for oil by regular consumers and industries worldwide. It takes a real appreciation for the story to wait and allow it to unfold while we get a grasp on the truly dark character portrayed so aptly by Marlon Brando. The scenes with Scott and Brando are great and they play on each others characters to keep the audience interested enough in the character development. Funny how movies form the past can seem like the writers had crystal balls to see the future. Great movie and worth the time spent.

this is definetly a movie which was ahead of its time, and certainly stands the test of time. GeorgeC Scott PLAYS A DETECTIVE INVESTIGATING A SET OF CURIOUS MURDERS WHO LATER FINDS OUT OF ASIMILAR SET OF MURDERS IN EUROPE. ONE SET OF CLUES AFTER ANOTHER LEADS BACK TO AN ECCENTRIC OILMAN POTRAYED BY MARLO BRANDO IN A VERY CONTROLLED LOW KEY PERFORMANCE. THE MOVIE TAKES US FROM SUNNY CALIFORNIA TO THE RAINY STREETS OF BERLIN. FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN A GOOD MYSTERY WITH SOCIO-POLITICAL OVERTONES I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE, WHILE FLAWED THE SCRIPT IS SOLID AND THE SCENES THAT BRANDO AND SCOTT SHARE ON SCREEN ARE WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION.
