Simply charming!

This was supposed to be a spoof on all the westerns Gary Cooper (and many others) played in back in the day. It turned into a funny and well-acted story that anyone can appreciate. It's actually a family film with some very prominent actors in very good roles. I actually believe Loretta Young was superb in this film. She was so real and her emotions so near the edge that she gave a great performance. You have to appreciate a film when the good guys wear white hats and you really do know who is good and who is evil. I love this film! What a great way to spend a couple of hours!

One of the most charming movies of all time. How can you not like Melody Jones? Just a regular guy that falls for a pretty gal and finds himself in a big mess. But for some reason (well, that reason would be Loretta Young), he keeps getting himself further and further into the mess. The cinematography is frequently bad (really bad!!!), but there are a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. i recommend it to anyone!!!

This western is surprisingly good. Light, amusing and very entertaining. The stars are great, particularly Gary Cooper, Loretta Young and in a supporting role, William Demarest. Dan Duryea is fine as well. Good writing.

As a child I saw this movie about 5 times as it was the second movie on many double bills. Saw it September 1, 2007 and gosh is it good. Every one perfect and Cooper and Demerest are great together. Spoof or no it is well written and acted and funny. Lots of great touches like Cooper wiping his mouth before he kissed Young for the first time. and the bit with the trophy he won (17th Place. Deserves more attention than it gets.
