Try to Keep the Smile Off Your Face
If you want a pick-me-up, to carry around a lighter note, watch this and its sequel, "By the Light of the Silvery Moon." Very well done, engaging characters, delightful songs. Full of life. On the top of my favorites, both of them. So much fun and interest. It seems that these good lively family movies usually have a precocious younger sibling. And, a semi-tyranical and/or comical maid usually fits in there as well. The whole thing just really, really works. Again, this and the sequel are the among the best of the best of the genre.
On Moonlight Bay (1951)
- James Higgins
This is a very sweet musical, with the wonderfully wholesome Doris day. Some very pleasant songs and musical bits. Good production. It's not really my kind of movie, but it's so well done and the cast is terrific. Fine support from Rosemary DeCamp, Ellen Corby and Mary Wickes.
Old movies are the best

Please let me know when these movies will be released. These are great movies the whole family can watch. The music is timeless.
Availability of purchasing this movie from TCM

Would like for the movies of On Moonlight Bay and By the Light of the Silvery Moon to be aired on Turner Classic Movies. Please advise as to when they will air. I am very interested in purchasing these 2 movies on DVD; but I cannot find them in any store anywhere and on the internet through a reputable dealer. Would it be possible to purchase a copy of these 2 DVDs through TCM. I watch your station often and appreciate your showing all of the older movies in letterbox form. But I have not seen these 2 movies I have inquired about. Please advise. Anita Harper
