One of the greatest of the funny sci fi horror films of all times. The attack of the 50 foot woman was really moralistic as well. She should have forgiven her husband rather than attacking him at the bar for cheating but this is a story. The aliens were never seen. Whether they were 50 feet tall is anyone' guess. There were flying saucers that must had aliens who thought it was pretty funny making her grow taller.I felt sorry for the 50 foot woman. She was abused by her husband and then killed....
Hilarious and Fabulous
Hilarious. One of the funniest sci fi movies of all time.Fabulous acting especially by the 50 foot woman.
I agree with Leonard Maltin. From the balloon arm and hand to the plot where a woman grows to 50 feet and then goes after her cheating husband keeps me in stitches every time. What is amazing is that the woman grew to 50 feet and her clothes expanded as well! I guess that's because of the Hollywood Code!
50 Foot Woman
When I saw this movie as a kid, it scared the heck out of me. I had a childhood fear of giants, and when I saw that huge hand in the bedroom, and the big voice screaming "Harry", I had nightmares for years. Nightmares or not, I still kept watching it. I enjoy it just as much as I did over 45 years ago. Typical 50's horror movie, and some parts people might consider cheesy, but that just makes it more likable.
How times have changed. I grew up in N.J. watching TV broadcasted from New York. There was a weekly show called Chiller Theater on Ch 9 I think that played really bad horror and SiFi movies, mostly from the 50's. This flick played so often I am left with impression that it was on once every other month. I got sick of it. Poor acting, cheesy special affects predictable plot. Just really bad. Right up there with the Hideous Sun Demon, The Amazing Colossal Man, and Plan 9 From Outer Space. I believe there was even a sequel that was equally as bad. I haven't seen it in more years than I'd like to admit have passed, so it will be interesting to see what it looks like through 64 year old eyes. I am going to give it one star from the perspective of a 10 year old. Thank God for TCM though. I could have easily died without suffering through another viewing if they didn't plat it.
ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN
Its Bad enough when you tick off ANY women, but when shes 50 feet tall, you just aint gonna win.STOMP! Great old fifties sci. fi. fun. So the special effects are dated and kind of cheezy. Just enjoy and remember what I said about arguing with HER, The one you love. Just say YES DEAR and let it go at that.
Location, Location , Location
- Al Lindenberg
Does anybody have any info on the filming locations? Especially the "Archer" estate. Thanks.
For me, this is the quintessential 1950's horror film - fun, campy and at the same time, affording a great snapshot of middle class life in the US at the time, especially the state of the "battle between the sexes." As for my favorite line in the film, I'd have to say it's the doctor's pithy observation on seeing his longtime patient transformed into a giant: "Incredible growth!"
Where's my husband? HE'S WITH THAT WOMAN! I'm going to find him!
Corny but fun
Really outdated sci fi effects. Corny and unbelievable story. All of that makes for a good time while watching. Today's special effects really make this movie pretty lame. The acting is suspent as well. However, the movie is fun to watch. It will make you appreciate the sci fi effects we have today.
A pretty terrible movie, but still a lot of fun for those who love B-scifi and horror. Honestly, would you expect anything else from a movie called, "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman"?
arrack of the 50 foot woman
I enjoyed this movie very much and I want to know when is it comming on again...soon I hope.
Classic American 1950's Sci-Fi
When a mysterious "satelite" invades Earth, Nancy Archer Fowler(Allyson Hayes) gets infected with"radiation" and grows to an annoying, but not horrorfying size. Hilarious special effects bring much laughter and goofiness to crazy story line.

Classic Sci-Fi thriller!
If you liked the "Incredible Shrinking Man", you will love this movie. It deals with a woman who grows to giant proportions. It is a classic 50's thriller that many boomers would love to see, if they could be reminded that it still exist for viewing. Come on TCM, why not cater to the boomers who grew up on these 50's and 60's classics. I don't watch much TV anymore because the movies I grew up watching are seldom, if ever played. Don't ignore the boomer market. We can still make your ratings surge by our sheer numbers!
