Being of Okinawan-American descent I am always interested in movies surrounding WWII. I only had the opportunity to see the last 15 minutes of the film and would love to see this film again in its entirety.

I saw this some time during the 70s I think, when my local channel used to show something other than sports and infomercials on Sunday afternoon. I always remembered the plot, the American boy being adopted by the Japanese family and that he was sitting in a car proposing to a girl for his brother when Pearl Harbor was attacked. I later remembered the scene where he started killing Japanese soliders because of the death of his friend until he saw a mother and child jump off a cliff, and it reminded him of his adoptive mother. I couldn't remember the name for the longest time or who was in it.

I saw this flick when I was a kid, right after it came out. It made a fairly deep impression on me. I was able to visit Saipan some years ago and see the places that the movie describes.Guy Gaboldon(sp?) was actually still alive when i was there and is revered by both the Japanese and American residents of Saipan.I think with the present day interest in WW2 that it would be really nice if TCM ran this movie. It really is a good film.
