When this film came out, I wasn't allowed to see it as I was quite young at the time. Thus, I finally did see it as an adult but I've not seen the 3D version and, frankly, I'm glad about that. This film just really gives you the creeps! Vincent Price, always one of my favorites, is so good in this film that you find yourself liking his character even though you shouldn't. It was great seeing Frank Lovejoy in this film too, as I've always believed he is one of our most underrated actors. The recap on this film gives it all away and that's a shame, as one should see this film without any knowledge of how it plays out. It isn't a slasher film, as is so popular today, but it is a great horror film - one of the best!

I went to see this film when I was a child. I sat in my seat and placed my three D glasses on and the picture started. All I could see was a blur. I didn't know it at the time but one had to have two good eyes to see 3D. I was born with one blind eye. I understand that the director of this film also could only see with one eye. I never went to another 3D picture again.

  • Dolls better than actors

House of Wax is the movie that established Vincent Price as a horror icon, a worthy heir to Boris Karloff. He is also by far the best thing about HOW, a pale full-colour remake of the superior Mystery of the Wax Museum ( 1933).There are several problems wit this remake, one of which is that the dolls have more character than the actors, who look like the real waxworks. Also the directing and camerawork are flat and unimaginative, which are deadly sins for a thriller. Plus that we see the ghoul very early on and constantly after that, which kills a lot of suspense.A bit of a dead dummy, with the corpse of a real good movie underneath.

I understand that "House Of Wax" (1953), the classic thriller starring Vincent Price, was filmed in 3D. I have seen it several times on TV, and as scary as it is I'm sure HOW would look even more awesome in 3D. I wish there was a way to see films in 3D on TV, because I'd really like to see HOW that way.
