  • '6 Day Bike Rider' is a must-see!

I've always loved comedians, and Joe E. Brown must be one of the most under-rated. This film is new to me, and it has instantly moved near the top of my Joe E. Brown favorites. That's helped a lot by my love of cycling, but any fan of slapstick would rate it as highly (cycling and cyclists being a little funny-looking to begin with... I digress). I'd love to hear Robert Osborne tell us all about the cycling footage used in the movie, and how many of those insane bike crashes were actually done by Joe and equally funny Frank McHugh. If there is ever going to be a TCM collection of Joe's films on DVD and Blu-Ray (hint hint), this film must be included!

It's a shame this hilarious bicycle film is not available, especially considering the success of 'Breaking Away' and other cycling films. The plot and characters are goofball, and the bike stunts are astounding. Nothing out there quite like it. Joe E Brown slips, slides, crashes his way from one trick to the next without a dent in his endearing, beaming mug. And despite being an untalented nobody, he wins the 6 day race and the girl of his dreams.I encourage fans of cycling, slapstick and screwball (in any order) to vote for this film on TCM's "homevideovote." This one should be offered as a DVD.The track in the film is Madison Sq. Gardens, I beleive. And around this time, track racing was the biggest sport in the nation? Hard to believe but true.
