Terrific movie with 2 great Roberts
Entertaining movie that sparkles everytime the fabulous Robert Ryan shows up. Also great performances by Lizabeth Scott and William Conrad.
This feature doesn't miss much; script, direction, cast, screenplay are well put together.
Underrated Film Noir
- Bruce Reber
"The Racket" is a gritty and very underrated film noir that features Robert Mitchum in one of his best performances. I have heard that Howard Hughes, the head of RKO made it to help clean up Mitchum's image after his arrest for Marijuana in 1948; and also that it was inspired by the Kefauver hearings on organized crime that were going on at the time. I watch it whenever it's on TCM. I am a noir fan and think "The Racket" is one of the great films noirs of the 50's.
