• A lesson in defensive driving

  Expected very little of this film,but enjoyed it for Dana Andrews and Jeanne Crain. They've worked well together before. Hated the hot rod punks

• a classic "road trip" film

  I watched it for the first time on TV when I was 10 years old. Since then, every time I see it I like it even more. With its combination of speed-crazed teens, stretches of deserted highway and an encounter with a drunk driver, this film will make you think about alternate transportation for that long-distance trip! Also, maybe a "What Not To Do" film for drivers ed class.

• a good teenage movie

  well you know this was a movie that was filmed in my area. My wife and i went to see this movie of all places at a drive-in when were teenagers. this is corny film but there's something attractive maybe it's actors(Andrews and Crane) they're veterans of film noir. Even my daughter likes this movie.

• a true cult classic!

  great movie. Please make available on DVD. a cool movie to show the generation gap from the point of view of the older generation. Campy, ridiculous, and alot of fun!! Two republican hoods chasing down a family in their respectable middle class car!

  I agree with Mike's comments: the acting is over the top and the plot is ridiculous. As a baby boomer, it might have been scary to me then but with the way things are now, no way! In short, the only thing cool about this movie was the hot rods.

  This movie is hilarious, from the over dramatic acting to the ridicualous plot! If you like 60's camp, then this is the movie for you. We loved the "terrifying" docker clad, clean cut punks, to the crazed, gyrating, dancing teens. Our "hero" turned from milk toast wimp to tire iron toating, enlighened super hero. Not sure of the moral lessons that are being promoted, some about the evils of society and some, just plain evil. A hoot for the whole family!

• A must see for Americans

  This is a little known gem to the appreciative American of traditional hot rod culture. On a list of "Hollywood Knights, Hot Rod Girl, and Hot Rod Gang, this movie ranks up there. I'm so thrilled to see it on TCM !!!! I highly endorse it and believe it should be preserved and made more available on DVD.
