Being a fan of Marshall Thompson I just had to see this film. I was surprised for I found it to be pretty entertaining , maybe not one of Marshall's Best roles BUT nonetheless very entertaining - I am hoping this gets released by itself to DVD or Blu Ray and shown more often as I feel then it will get a larger fan base.

This is a character-driven film. The title doesn't do it justice. Originally, MGM planned to call it 'Standoff' which conveys the idea of the story more accurately. It begins rather slow but draws the viewer in...especially as a deranged psychopath starts killing innocent bystanders randomly. The dialogue that the police and the psychiatrist have is rather interesting. The fact that the shrink is killed by his patient shows what side the filmmakers are on.

A film that's got nothing going for it except the strength of its story. Luckily this story has just enough of a hook to keep you entertained. Of note is William Conrad's bit part as the bartender Chuckles. He steals every scene he's in.
