A great movie....It needs to be released on DVD !!!

  • If you liked "Clue" you'll love this...

A rocket-paced, extraordinarily produced film adaptation of the excellent, idiosyncratic parlor mystery play from the 30's. Smart, funny, sad, tense, brilliantly acted, sparkling dialog... and damnit, why the hell can't I get a copy? Not even available on VHS. A real tragedy since the wonderfully hysterical ensemble/board-game-inspired "Clue" borrows heavily from this and other titles in its ouvre/genre/whatever. That having been said, the pace of this picture is so fast, and the script so smart, I feel bad calling it a parlor mystery, and I hate thinking of it as a melodrama... But blah. One of my favorite films I can't buy anywhere, but thanks TCM for showing it!

First time I saw this one and liked it very much. A melodrama that moved along at a fast pace. Viginia Bruce and Melvin Douglas and the whole class was good.

  • FABULOUS Parlor Classic

It absolutely breaks my heart that this film doesn't get the attention that it deserves... A wonderfully acted parlor mystery with that delicious balance of psycho-thriller and comedy to baffle you all the way through. The real mystery (and misery) is why I can't buy it. Another demi-lost-treasure... if you get the chance, watch it!
