    Lewis Stone was a wonderful actor and, from what I've read, an exceptionally fine man; however, carrying a film as a star was just not his baliwick. He made a fine character actor and was instantly recognizable in the literally dozens of films he was in besides the Andy Hardy ones. In this film, he appears too old for the part of Rudolfo. He isn't dashing nor does he have the self-confidence we later saw in Ronald Coleman in the same role fifteen years later. The sets in this film are quite sufficient for a castle but not the lushness we saw in other silents of the same era. I simply was not impressed with this silent film and I love the silents!
