I recently saw the movie China Sky. I will watch any movie with the great Randolph Scott. It was an excellent version of Pearl Buck's novel.

The film was released in 1945, made while the war was still on, and American attitudes about the Japanese were not so liberal. But it's worth noting that most of the child actors in the film are Japanese American. The stars are great...Randolph Scott has good chemistry with both leading ladies, Ellen Drew and Ruth Warrick. Warrick is excellent as a woman doctor, giving a nod to the early feminist movement. The film has a lot of action (and romance) and the subplots relate directly to the main plot, and the script seems to cover a lot of ground, using Buck's literature as its original source and using RKO's top production values at the time.

I just watched this film only for the 2nd time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But what's not to enjoy looking at Randolph Scott. I am a big Scott fan. It's nice to see him in something other than a western. And, I love westerns also. Please show it again soon. Thanks TCM.
