Mutiny on the Bounty
- Dashiell Barnes
- 7/24/12
The Best Picture winner of '35 is an first-class adventure drama based on an actual incident. Gable & Tone were nominated for their acting, as was Laughton as an unforgettable antagonist. The story is excellent & the Tahiti islands are beautiful to look at, even in B/W. Overall this an terrific film whose real history brought changes to the way sailors & officers deal with discipline. I give it a 5/5.

A high seas classic!

Without a doubt, the best version of the oft-told tale. Clark Gable is superb, Charles Laughton, as Captain Bligh, is thoroughly nasty and infuriating. An adventurous, dramatic epic.

This is the best version of the Mutiny on the Bounty because it has the best acting and cast compared to later versions. Charles Laughton does an excellent job as Captain Bligh, by the end of the movie you will hate him. Clark Gable plays a sympathetic Fletcher Christian and gets everyone to fall for his charms. Leaving Bligh in a boat after the mutiny was not a nice thing to do either, but you have to watch the movie to see what happens next.

This is the best screen interpretation of the Nordhoff classic. No one will ever top MGM's 1935 original.

A superb and magnificent classic with an unforgettable performance from Charles Laughton, as Captain Bligh. Clark Gable and Franchot Tone also give great performances. Good supporting cast, impeccable MGM production. Very well written and directed. Outstanding in all areas.

True Classic

There have been many remakes of this classic; but this is the one and only! King Kong has been remade; but like "Mutiny" the original remains the one you remember. Gable, Laughton, Franchot Tone and a great supporting cast give memorable performances. Who can ever forget Laughton's taunt to Gable; "I always thought you were partial to cheese, Mr. Christian?" This one should be put in a time capsule.
