  • A Great Movie Version of a Great Operetta

The plot of the 1936 version is a bit silly, but I love the singing of Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. This version hews closer to the original plot, which is of course, still an operetta plot, but the music and singers are great! Fernando Lamas also very charming in this movie.

  • Pleased to have found this version.

I always enjoy Howard Keel's voice but had never known about this version of "Rose Marie". Growing up my mother had a recording of Jeanette McDonald & Nelson Eddy so I was familiar with the music, and I had previously seen their version of "RoseMarie"on TCM. She even named my sister Rosemarie. But I loved this version much better than the 1936 version. Thank you TCM!!

you should put rose marie on DVD. The music is outstanding and the voices of Howard Keel and Ann Blythe are somethng to be treasured. It is a wonderful musical classic.Musicals are not made these days because they don't have the singers and everyone sounds the same.It would be a shame to let this one go.
