    Cagney got to play a good guy here. Overall, movie is entertaining, basing some of its scenes on real life happenings. Could have done without the excessive, jarring laughter of his nemesis/boss during a workout scene in gym. Cute scenes with his lady interest, Margaret Lindsay. Ann Dvorak is a moll who might have been that to him. Dvorak is great.

    Those are real bullets - the telephone booth scene with MacLane and Dvorak highlights the Oscar-nominated screenplay.
