I've been waiting to see this movie for decades. It's so nice of TCM to run THE WRATH OF GOD with Robert Mitchum and Rita Hayworth-great actors! If this movie were available I'd buy it ASAP. On a more realistic note when I did Catholic missionary work in southern Mexico six years ago, I quickly found out that there are actual fictional Fr. Van Horne types in that country. Mexico is so out of control that the govenment have given priests full police powers to help keep the lid on. I've met one priest who'd fully identify with the fictional priest in this movie. Having lived and worked in places where the Mexican army couldn't go-safely-I give this movie a full five star rating based on story telling, scenery, and loose historicalism.

Sorry to hear this was her last film. She looked ill and illat ease.Lovely actress.Good film, she had nothing to atone for,and I'm glad Mr Mitchum was her true friend.
