Maltin's review is weak and he rates this film way too low. Atmospheric, fun and exciting, Second Chance is a winner. Performances are uniformly fine- Mitchum is great, and Linda Darnell, always an underated actress, is excellent as the lady on the run (and of course gorgeous). This picture gets better each time it is viewed. Please schedule it more often.

Another one that is better than Maltin's review. The fact that it is in color actually adds to it, even as a Noir movie. Good story, excellent acting, well directed and filmed. What more could you ask for?

This is one of Mitchum's best...I would hope it will be aired again...I recorded it..and erased it in error. Either release it on VHS or DVD... Thank You,

Man, I wish I would have recorded this. But I thought it would be much worse. It is a bit corny and predictable, but for those days, this is really good, AND in color. I esp liked the sky car scene. Too bad it has not been restored as you can really tell it is worn (sound and color fading), and it is not released on DVD. I sure hope TCM re-plays this so those of us who really enjoyed it can record it.aloha, konarose

  • An Enduring Memory

Second Chance is one of those films that I saw when I was very young. I was about 11 or 12-That is 1971-1972. I am 49 this year, and it is absolutely incredible how many of the films that I saw as a youngster have become my favorites. This was before the cable monster complicated my television viewing habits. Its funny how 500 channels tends to dilute my enjoyment of the experience. This film absolutely scared the hell out me, and the memory of that poor woman being chased through the streets by a menacing Jack Palance remains an enduring memory-Being the first film of his that I ever saw. I don't care what IMDB says about this film failing on every level, it worked for me back then, and still does. Hope to see this film on dvd soon!

SECOND CHANCE is one cool movie. Robert Mitchum plays a boxer looking for a second chance at the big time after a ring fatality in the Garden. He's trying to get his confidence back knocking over second raters in South America. He meets Linda Darnell who is on the run from Jack Palance. A terrific cable car scene in the Andes brings this cool movie to an exciting climax.

  • I Love Linda Darnell!

This is the first time I've seen this movie. Cool, sleepy eyed Bob Mitchum, crazy Jack Palance and the beautiful Linda Darnell. The first things I saw her in was "Blood and Sand" and "The Mark of Zorro". Sad the way she died at age 41.
