The Last Great Marx Brothers Film
- Dan Grissom
- 8/12/12
Irving Thalberg, who had brought the brothers over to MGM from Paramount, died in the middle of the filming for this, the brothers' seventh film and second for MGM. Groucho stated that after Thalberg died he lost interest in making movies and their films from this point on show it. My favorite scene from this movie is when Groucho, as Dr. Hugo Z. Hackenbush, places a phone call to his nemesis from the next office over and REALLY messes with this guy. It's a hilarious scene and worth catching. Four stars.

Vivien Fay
- Ken Lundstrom
- 5/9/11
Aside from my penchent for the Marx Brothers, I also love good dancers. Vivien Fay has to be the best ballet dancer that I've ever seen. It's too bad that she was not able to be showcased in more films. Her spins are even better than Eleanor Powells, who I feel was the best female dancer around. Even so, whereas this is not my favorite Marx Bros. film, it is a good one.

A Day at the Races (1937)

Hysterically funny and certainly one of the Marx Brothers best. The writing is great and the musical numbers are terrific too. Great supporting cast, Margaret Dumont is a delight as always. Excellent!
