Mikhail Gorbachev worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. A regular on the awards show circuit, he made an appearance on "Fourth Annual Environmental Media Awards" (1994-95). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "A Conversation With Mikhail S. Gorbachev" (1987-88), "Global Forum II -- Moscow: World Stories From a Surviving Planet" (1989-1990) and "The New Russian Revolution: Will the Soviet Union Stay in the Red?" (1990-91). He also appeared in "Conversations With Gorbachev" (1994-95). Gorbachev launched his career by acting in films like the Otto Sander fantasy sequel "Faraway, So Close" (1993). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "The Gulf War" (1995-96), "Mikhail Gorbachev Talking With David Frost" (1995-96) and "A World Transformed: Our Reflections on Ending the Cold War" (1996-97). He also appeared in "The Reagan Legacy" (1996-97). In more recent years, Gorbachev had roles in the Zev Yaroslavsky documentary "Refusenik" (2008), "The Soviet Story" (2008) and the documentary "Countdown to Zero" (2010) with Gary Oldman.
