A graduate of Purdue University, Ingersoll was a stage actor for more than fifty years. His first engagement was with the Boston Museum Company in the early 1880's. On Broadway he appeared in several productions including ‘Moonshine’ with Blanche West, ‘Three Wise Fools,’ ‘Queen Victoria’ with Beryl Mercer, ‘We, The People,’ and ‘A Divine Moment.’
