Identifying a Star--Freida Inescort
- Patti Gregory
After just watching the 1929 and 1940 versions of The Letter, the part of Mrs. Joyce was so familiar to me. I just couldn't place the actress. Then it hit me!! This was Miss Bingley of 1940's version of "Pride and Prejudice " fame. I totally loved this woman's portrayal of the snooty, bitchy, crass Miss Bingley. I tried to find any info on this actress, but there wasn't much available. Only that she died in 1979 of Multiple Sclerosis and was considered a " minor " star. I didn't realize she had parts in around 50 or so movies. I will certainly be on the lookout for her films (checkout her filmography ) . I also hope that someone will write her biography and family life. I have a feeling that there is much more to this actress than what is written and what has not been written!
