  • Beautiful Set Design

I happened upon "This Side of the Law" and don't even know fully about the plot, but anyone can see how beautiful the sets - interior house and exterior garden, as well as lakeside - are. I see Mr. Thompson's credits include "Wait Until Dark," which features an English basement for the set, and yet that set, with shades of gray and daffodil yellow, are symbolically meaningful and so clever for a small, tight urban interior. Mr. Thompson also was the set designer for major movies like "My Fair Lady" and so obviously achieved a great reputation in his field. Oddly, it's "This Side of the Law" a relatively unknown black and white movie, that brought him to my attention! Great care and thought was given to each scene. Entertaining movie from the set standpoint alone!
