Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

In the mid-1990s, Jennifer Love Hewitt transformed from a Barbie-hawking child actress into a men's magazine mainstay with her role in the thriller, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997). She had already begun building a following with her perky, girl-next-door role on the hit teen drama "Party of Five" (Fox, 1994-2000), but her tight tops and blood-curdling screams in the hair-raising blockbuster made her into a household name. Hewitt's frenzied popularity resulted in her own spin-off TV series, a sequel "Summer" film, and the release of several pop albums before she settled into a career of lightweight family films and TV, including a starring role in the supernatural drama series "The Ghost Whisperer" (CBS, 2005-2010). Though she had her run-ins with the tabloid press, particularly after less-than-flattering pictures of her taken at the beach appeared in print, Hewitt nonetheless remained a gifted actress capable of consistently turning in award-worthy performances.

Notes

"It took me 14 years to come back to what I actually came to Los Angeles to do- that is, to be a singer. I chose the title Barenaked because I feel naked and kind of exposed releasing this record. My heart is in every word and I sang my heart out. Music is something I've never done in front of my peers-that they know of, I mean- becuase I've done it but they've never paid attention. I'm prepared for people to say "Great, here's this actress trying to become a singer."---Hewitt quoted in Movieline September 2002

"I like the fact that my mom and I need each other, and I like the fact that I'm only going to get one life with her and I'll never have to look back and say, 'Gosh, I wish my mom and I could have done that.'"---Hewitt on still living with her mom Rollingstone October 3, 2002

"I don't get calls late at night, except crank calls that go, 'I know what you did last summer!' It's always at a party, and they always have me on speakerphone and hang up, laughing hysterically. Now is that a booty call? No. That is not a booty call. The next time some kid calls up and goes, 'I know what you did last summer,' I'm going to be like, 'You want my booty?' They're going to be, 'Jennifer Love Hewitt is so nasty.'"---Hewitt quoted in Rollingstone October 3, 2002

"My breast have a career of their own. Theirs is going better."-Hewitt US Weekly September 30. 2002

"I love loving people. I love taking care of people. And I love being supportive. I'm really good at just being the girlfriend."---Hewitt to CosmoGirl.com
