Notes

About her first name, Hemingway is quoted as being "fed up with being associated with fine claret. My dad told me I was conceived during the euphoria he and my mom experienced after consuming a bottle of Chateau Margaux, but heck . . . I'm a Margot." (NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, February 20, 1992). She eventually returned to spelling it Margaux.

Hemingway wrote her autobiography recounting her alcoholism and nights as a fixture at Studio 54.
