Attack of The 50 Foot Woman(1958)

One of the Best Sci-fi Schlock films of the 1950's. The movie never pretends to be more than it is ! Sub-standard special effects, a strange story line, and great actors perfectly cast combine to create one of the most endearing, creative collaborations of all time ! The film never explains itself, nor even attempts to, but for 65 minutes provides solid entertainment. Remarkable acheivements of the film are the most effective use of a foam rubber hand, used for a giant male(with hair and nail polish), a giant female(nail polish only), and appears many times in the film. How about the worse use of a blue/green screen, where you can see the backgorund thru the giant people and/or satellite. How about a satellite for a 30 ft.giant with a ceiling lees than 30 feet high, filled with smoke and pegboard from another world, who knew ? How about two doctors who stay at the patients house and discuss surgery as the most likely answer to gigantism ? It doesn't get any better than this or does it. How about the director who uses his middle name instead of his last name to divorce himself from the film ? See,the movie works on many levels, and should be appreciated for what it is, American Classic Schlock Sci-fi, at its' finest ! One more thing, Product Placement, the uncola before it was even that. Two empty bottles of the clear stuff, what a film.
