Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Nominated three times for Most Promising Actress in 1992, 1995, and 1997, Isabelle Carré made good on the votes of confidence, snagging Best Actress nods in 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007. However, the truth is that, unless a particular film gets nominated for the Best Foreign Language Feature Oscar, few North American moviegoers get a chance to see it. As such, Carré's seven award-nominated performances belong to films that are not brand-familiar. The only time she won a César was in 2003, for "Beautiful Memories," and deservedly so. She played the part of an Alzheimer's victim to perfection for director and co-writer Zabou Breitman. In 2006, Carré married movie producer Bruno Peséry, who has been making films for a slightly longer period of time in his native country than his wife has been starring in them. They met and fell in love while collaborating on the 2005 drama "Entre ses mains" and the 2006 romance "Private Fears and Public Places."
