The Real Deal
- Oliver Cutshaw
- 2012-12-17
Although born in New York, so he is not exactly a true Westerner, Carey was a true actor. He worked for decades from the relatively early days of silents into the 1930s and 40s. His characters always seemed "believable". And from what I have read of his personal life those true elements of dignity, gravity, and humanity that he brought to the screen he possessed in real life. Always enjoyed his work and he gave a solidity to every production he worked on. He was greatly admired by the film community of the 20's to 40's both for his professional skills and his personal charm.

Harry Carey was one of those actors so at ease in his performance that the audience could'nt help but believe in the characterization being presented. Truly he was a gifted actor and always enhanced any film by his presence.
