English actress Annette Badland began her professional training at the East 15 Acting School outside of London. She is most noted for roles in British children's television programs such as "Happy Families," in which she portrayed Auntie Brick for the show's two-season run, and "The Worst Witch" in 1998, in which she portrayed Mrs. Tapioca. Early in her career, Badland landed a role in Jersey-based detective drama "Bergerac," from 1981 to 1984. She continued to find parts in British TV throughout her career, landing roles in "Making Out," a comedy about factory workers, and "Blackhearts in Battersea," a kid's show set in 19th-century London. Her career has also been peppered with some notable feature film appearances in Terry Gilliam's "Jabberwocky" and Tim Burton's delirious Roald Dahl adaptation "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." In 2005 she played a recurring villain in the British sci-fi staple "Doctor Who" and in 2009 Badland made her stage debut in a production of Noël Coward's "Blithe Spirit" at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
