I like the manner of Dr. Richardson expressed by Lew Ayres in Johnny Belinda. Lew has an excellent way to show the emotions of the character very deeply by his eyes.

I agree with Fran that Lew and Jack Lemmon seem related....I could have sworn while watching a film with Lew Ayres that it was Jack Lemmon.....they are both excellent actors....but would love to know if they are related....

Lew Ayers was a fine actor, his performance in "All Quiet On The Western Front" convinced me he was capable of a very hard theme. Lew Ayers was in his element as a doctor. Thank God we are all a little different, and he was enjoyable on film. I miss his films beacause he was truly human.

I stayed up all night to watch the Dr. Kildare films and I loved them! Unfortunately I fell asleep from exhaustion at the beginning of the 4th one and woke up to see the last few minutes of Dr. Kildare's Wedding Day (darn it)and managed to see Dr. Kildare's Victory. With Lionel Barrymore as Dr. Gillespie the two made quite a pair. I'm hoping to add the series of movies to my "must have" collection.

Lew Ayres. Wonderful actor. He brought a gentle sense of humor and graceful elegance to numerous parts for 5 decades. It is too bad that Hollywood could not find more parts for him like his wonderful roles in Johnny Belinda and Holiday.
